Atari
History
Atari's early hits are all for their own 8-bit computer but they soon created their own label, Atarisoft, to bring their arcade classics to every machine. The venture was shortlived and Atarisoft withdrew from the market after the parent company was bought from Warner Brothers by Jack Tramiel. Atari also lost the Namco licence to Datasoft leading to US Gold publishing a slightly modified version of Pole Position with all of the signs saying 'Namco' changed to 'Datasoft'.
Atari titles continued to be ported to computers by several publishers including Activision, Domark, Mirrorsoft and Elite Systems whose ports of Paperboy are the most successful of all Atari's titles.
