Software Projects
History
Software Projects was formed in 1983 by Alan Maton of Bug-Byte and Manic Miner author Matthew Smith. The company released their own version of Manic Miner when Smith discovered a clause in his contract that allowed him to withdraw the game from the market.
Both Manic Miner and the sequel Jet Set Willy appear in the Top 10 releases, but Software Projects never achieved anywhere the same level of success with any of their other titles and stopped publishing games in 1988. Jet Set Willy II, an expanded version of the original, later became one of the last top ten hits on Mastertronic's Ricochet re-release label.
