Martech

History

Martech Games was formed in 1982 and initially produced board games. In 1983, they marketed the first games produced by Durell and were soon having hits in their own right, becoming known for celebrity-endorsed titles featuring Eddie Kidd, Brian Jacks and Samantha Fox. The company was less successful in later years and became an 'affiliate label' of Electronic Arts. Their final full-price hit was Nigel Mansell's Grand Prix in early 1988, with none of their subsequent titles, including the acclaimed Rex and the heavily-publicised Vixen, appearing in any published charts.

The publishing side of the business closed the following year but the company behind Martech, Software Communications, continued to release games on the short-lived "Screen 7" label through Alternative Software.
